I get e-mails. I get them from GOP hacks. Why? Well I signed up under an alias so that I could keep abreast of the memes they are spreading. I just thought I'd post the latest appeal to land in my spam folder...
Dear [REDACTED],
I am writing to urgently request you make an immediate secure online contribution to help our Party win contested races in the U.S. House and Senate.
There are three seats in the House and two in the Senate that still hang in the balance. Winning these races and strengthening our Republican numbers in both chambers of Congress is critical to blocking Barack Obama’s left-wing agenda.
The margins are very tight in two key Senate races. In Minnesota, where a recount will take place, our candidate leads by a mere 206 votes. In Georgia, our candidate won but faces a runoff due to state election law requiring the winner to garner 50% of the vote. Victory in these vital contests depends on our GOP candidates having the necessary resources for the recounts and runoffs they are facing -- starting immediately!
The Obama-Biden Democrats and their liberal special interest allies are trying to steal these election victories from Republicans. They are pouring all their available resources into these campaigns. The Obama Campaign has tens of millions of dollars leftover that they are sure to dump into the Democrat challengers’ campaign coffers.
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are hoping to add more seats to the Democrats’ Senate and House majorities so they can steamroll our opposition to their extreme, ultraliberal schemes.
The RNC has pledged to provide as much funding as needed to support our GOP candidates facing recounts and runoffs and ensure Republican victories. That is why I am asking the RNC's strongest grassroots supporters like you to make a special secure online contribution of $2,000, $1,000, $500, $250, $100, $50 or $25 right now.
We cannot afford to let the Democrats get even one seat closer to a filibuster-proof majority. Every Republican vote we can add now will help our Party stop the Obama Democrats’ leftist policies in the U.S. Congress.
[REDACTED], I know you’ve given generously this election year. But the fight is not over -- our Party needs your help one more time. There is no time to lose. Please act today. Thank you.
Best Wishes,
Robert M. "Mike" Duncan
Chairman, Republican National Committee
One thing I noticed right away, this whole thing is a generic us-versus-them where the actual candidates in question remain unamed (from either party) while the ardent leftists Obama, Reid and Pelosi are hgihlighted.
I also note the shameless defense of the filibuster appeal, that should be insulting to anyone aware of the GOP nuclear option. Am I surprised? Of course not.
Will Obama dump his tens of millions into Senate coffers?
