The filibuster in its current form is a disgrace to democracy. It does not appear in the Constitution. Perhaps there was a place for it but the rules should be changed. Tyranny of the minority is undemocratic just like tyranny of the majority.
In the Senate you have several states where you have two Democratic Senators, some with two Republican Senators, and some with one Democrat and one Republican as Senator.
I decided to add up the states that have 2 Democrats by electoral college votes (Ex - California gets a score of 110, Rhode Island a score of 8) and the states with 2 Republicans in the Senate (ex - Maine a score of 8) the same way. States with 1 and 1 each got the same score based on EV. (Ex - South Dakota 3 each)
And here is what I found.
66% of the population is represented by Democratic Senators and only 34% is represented by Republican Senators.
So why should 34% block progress? Maybe the filibuster should be adjusted to population but the idea that 34% of a people can prevent the other 66% from doing something that doesn't violate anyone's right is not democracy.
