Well for all those folks worried that gay protests are counter-productive for dealing with Mormon aggression, why don't we ask the Jews how negotiating respectfully works out?
Fourteen years: FRUITLESS.
NEW YORK (JTA) -- A Holocaust survivor organization has broken off negotiations with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints over its practice of posthumously baptizing Jewish victims of the Nazis.
At a news conference Monday, leaders of the American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors and their Descendants, seated in front of panels listing names of Holocaust victims they say were baptized by the Mormons, said that 14 years of quiet negotiations have proven fruitless.
"We felt we had come to the end of the line," Ernest Michel, the honorary chairman of the American Gathering, told JTA. "There is no further point in meeting with them."
As an atheist, I don't pretend to understand what could be motivating them to perform posthumously "baptism" on Jews. But I'm curious how this practice squares with their recent press release:
Once again, we call on those involved in the debate over same-sex marriage to act in a spirit of mutual respect and civility towards each other.
Are they treating the Jews in the spirit of mutual respect and civility? Ernest Michel, speaking Tuesday on the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht, honorary chairman of the American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors says no:

"We ask you to respect us and our Judaism just as we respect your religion," Michel said in a statement released ahead of the news conference. "We ask you to leave our six million Jews, all victims of the Holocaust, alone, they suffered enough."
Nice, reasonable folks those Mormons huh?
