I understand that this may lead to a lot of outcry on this site, but hear me out.
As many of you are, I was and to an extent am very excited about the election of Barack Obama. I think that especially given the alternative, there are many issues that I think he will help within this country... especially given the regime of the last eight years.
But my primary concern (and this holds true for any political alignment--I'm not a liberal, I'm not a conservative, I'm not an independent... maybe call me an anarchist?) is that because people support the candidate, they do not question what is said and what is done. I'm excited about the next four years, but on the same token, I'm a little apprehensive; Washington is a very thick web of an environment... there is a lot of one way mental thought ingrained within it.
So I ask you, as fellow supporters of this man, if he does anything that steps into the same grounds that we've stood against for the last eight years, please question him and his policies. Seven years ago, our rights were taken away, and Bush fanatics said that it was fine 'to make us safe' and because 'it was the patriotic thing to do'.
Please don't fall into that trap. If Obama steps his bounds, let your voice be heard. I think no matter what, unquestioning loyalty is a great condition for the formation of totalitarian regimes, as we've seen firsthand for so long.
Here's hoping all turns out well. Peace guys.
