Ok I'm Gonzolegend and I have a problem... I'm a hopeless nerd/political junkie, who also holds a degree in Journalism, probably a bit obsessive about this election but I'm also guessing that you are too?
So I've compiled this diary to let you know what the major news networks are planning come election night based on there Press Releases and other media sites. All so you can make an informed judgement on which channel you wanna watch Barack Obama get announced as the winner.
Also I'll just add all the networks worried about it being called to early? Who cares? People going to stay up to watch history live. They need to stop worrying. Anyway line-up below the fold
MSNBC
MSNBC / NBC Press Release
Firstly MSNBC Election 08 kicking off at 5pm EST. Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews will not be the anchors but in a change to the Primary coverage they will be commentators, along with Rachel Maddow.
The anchor will be David Gregory and they will be live in Election Headquaters in New York. Joe Scarborough will also join with updates on house races.
Pat Buchanan, Mike Murphy, Harold Ford Jr., and Rev. T.D. Jakes will provide analysis.
MSNBC.com will also provide this content free on there website for live streaming (for those of you with no TV/Cable).
NBC
NBC themselves will be live in Rockefeller Plaza (turned in Election plaza). They got some crazy plan to have an electoral map transmitted onto an ice rink with McCain / Obama banners rising 16 stories up there World Headquaters counting up to 270 sounds...interesting lol.
They will have Brian Williams anchoring the coverage with Tom Brokaw and Andrea Mitchell backing him up. There coverage begins at 7pm EST with a 30 minute live special at 6:30.
On a side note Chuck Todd has apparently got this virtual "visual reality" board to talk people through the Electoral Vote as they come in. He will also appear on MSNBC and CNBC throughout the night.
CNN
CNN Election 08 Press Release via Dem Underground
Whoa CNN going guns blazing with an army of people drafted in for there coverage. Starting at 6pm EST with Wolf Blitzer (yawn) anchoring. Anderson Cooper and Campbell Brown will be back up to Wolf.
There huge lineup of commentators includes: Gloria Borger, Paul Begala, Bill Bennett, Donna Brazile, James Carville, Alex Castellanos, Amy Holmes, Roland Martin, Ed Rollins, Hilary Rosen, Leslie Sanchez. With John King over at some highly technological wall. Also some talk of it being
the most technologically advanced events in CNN’s 28-year history
make of that what you will but 3D images are, according to the press release, included. Think CNN will be streamed live online but no word on the press release. However if it is will be here : CNN Election 08 Online
LOL News Network, AKA FauX, AKA FiX News/Noise
Should be funny just to flick over for a second once Obama hits 500 EV's with 10 senate wins and 40 congressional seats eh?
There anchor of course is Brit "must not show emotion" Hume. He will be flanked by Chris Wallace, Bill Kristol, Juan Williams from NPR and Fred Barnes (Barnes by the way predicting a McCain win :D)
In addition, Sean Hannity, Alan Colmes, Bill O’Reilly and Greta Van Susteren will contribute their perspectives throughout the evening
So plenty of laughs to be had there I'm sure. Revenge for 2000 anyone?
CBS
Katie Couric (who delivered the death by a thousand questions to Palin) has won the anchor role. Bob Schieffer and Jeff Greenfield will also be co-hosting. CBS.com will stream whole thing live. Other than that nothing much that stands out.
Joining her in New York will be Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer, Senior Political Correspondent Jeff Greenfield, and CBS News correspondents Sharyl Attkisson, Armen Keteyian, Anthony Mason and Byron Pitts. CBS News Political Analysts Dan Bartlett and Dee Dee Myers and CBS News Historian Doug Brinkley will also join Couric in New York.
They got the CBS Investigative Unit looking into voter fraud MSNBC also got an election protection team so any probs GET N TOUCH.
Other Stuff
Ohhhhh... I got a surprise that I left till the end Comedy Central Election night coverage. Freaking Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert LIVE during Election night. The grand name for it will be The Daily Show and The Colbert Report Election Night 2008. Sure to beat all the boring CNN/Faux/NBC stuff.
according to Indecision 08
"Will John 'Grandpa' McCain totter his way to victory over Barack 'Doesn't Pick Up His Socks' Obama? Or will Obama toss that sock of change right over McCain's balding head, into the hamper of victory?"
Also for Ex-pats or Internationalists. BBC Live
and Al Jazeera going to have live coverage on there English station from 18 different correspondents around the world including 3 in the US. If you wanna see some world reaction that's the place to go.
