Barack Obama just released his weekly address in which he outlines the plan to save or create 2.5 million jobs by 2011.
Video and more details, after the jump.
According to the Obama Transition team:
The President-elect has directed the Transition's economic team to develop the details of a plan for a two-year, nationwide effort to strengthen our economy. It will center around jobs rebuilding crumbling roads and bridges, modernizing schools, and making America a leader in alternative energy.
After another week of devastating economic news, it's clearer than ever that dramatic action is needed to chart a new path for our economy that gets jobs and wages growing again.
So what do you think?
Personally, I'm all in favor of investing considerably towards rebuilding US infrastructure. Between roads and bridges, as well as other infrastructure initiatives like making sure broadband is available everywhere in this country, we're dramatically improving the nation, along with providing a huge number of jobs.
It will definitely require a significant investment in the beginning, but the tax revenues and improvements to this country will make it worthwhile.
It's become increasingly clear that we need a "New Deal" type plan for the economy this deep in crisis, and I believe Barack Obama is the man for the job.
