Here's the NY Times story about the contenders. I'm wondering who is preferred in Kossack-land as Hillary's Senate successor from my beloved former home, the Empire State?
Update: The re-election scenarios would be interesting. In 2010, the appointee would be on the ballot to fill out the remainder of Sen. Clinton's term, which expires in 2012. Also on the ballot that year? Gov. Paterson and Chuck Schumer.
Update Two: Thanks to everyone who's voted!
As for Secretary-to-be Clinton, her decidedly more hawkish views than our Machiavellian-in-chief (and I say that with greatest admiration), perhaps especially on the Middle East, give him head-fake latitude in foreign policy. In simplified terms, think, "good cop/bad cop." Plus, Barack and Michelle can get a lot of post-3 a.m beauty sleep, and...Secretary Clinton could give President Obama domestic and international political cover should a Middle East peace plan emerge someday returning national borders to those resembling the map prior to the 1967 war.
Governor Paterson's political interests may incline him to look first and foremost at Cuomo, Valezquez and Gillibrand.
But what I'm asking is: Whom do you want to hold the (national) NY Senate seat once held by RFK?
