When the Alarm Button went off by the Bush Administration, that we had to bail out Banking Institutions, in my heart I thought, oh here we go again. Another Chicken Little Moment. It was a scam, it was Bush's grand exit strategy to bleed the coffers of the American People again leaving us with nothing, just as they did New Orleans, Iraq, and Afghanistan. This Administration has been a result of the biggest Robbery in American History and they will get away with it. The American People will fall for it, go along with it, while losing their homes, can't pay their bills, deciding whether to eat or pay for gas.
Although I haven't read Naomi Klein's Book "The Shock Doctrine," I have read exerts, listened to her interviews, a few speeches to realize the concept of her book. She is right on the money and the Bush Administration have been the final leaders of the plan, and it just plain pisses me off. We will become victims of a new kind of Slavery in America. I am 50 years old now and never in my lifetime did I think this would happen in America. I drive down the streets and see children walking to school, playing ball, and I think, what are they are going to do?
So on positive note, I received an email, more after the jump
This email I received and I wish still had a copy, but I don't. The email said, for $700 billion, every American over the age of 18, could have received a check for $240,000 each. I know I'm dreaming but let me dream of what I could have done with that $240,000. Let me start by saying, I have been single Mother most of my life, my kids didn't get new clothes, I went to yard sales in nicer neighborhoods to cloth my children. I go to Flea Markets, Garage Sales, Yard Sales, Thrift Stores, to furnish my house. I do all the decorating in my home with my own hands. I shop at Aldi's, go to fruit Markets, I recycle, and do my best to save energy, gasoline, and known as a penny pincher. I don't have a college education, but love to read, especially on the internet. I sell on ebay and just started a small business selling diecast collectible cars, collectible toys, and recently Soy Oil Natural Candles. I love doing this, always have, always will.
Anyway I got to thinking what I could have done with $240,000. This would have been my plan. I would have paid my house off, my car, and I have one outstanding loan. Think about that, it would have stabilized my household and helped to stablize the loan companies by paying this off. If everyone else in the Country would do the same thing, it would have stabilized to market period to a huge degree.
Second, my house was built in 1955, I would have added new windows, a new Heating and Air Conditioning System, have my septic tank uprgraded, new Hot Water Heater, new appliances, and some solar panels. That would have made my house much more efficient on energy, put some people to work, and help to generate the economy. If everyone else received that same check, think how much energy that would save across the Country, how many people could keep working, and how much that would generate into the economy. The banks would be stabilized also because people paid off their loans, their houses, their cars, etc...
What if the Government sents us these checks with stipulations that this is what was required of us, to do with the money. Have an oversight program to make sure the American people spent this money the way they were told to. We would have to show proof that this is what we did with the money, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Can you imagine how many people would keep their jobs, what a relieve that would be to Americans, to save their homes, put confidence back in system. The confidence we would have back in our Government for finally helping the American people instead of the crooks on Wall Street and the Banking Institutions. Give us a tax break for a year. While many of us will still work, we would be paying taxes into the system, to keep the rest of the Country going.
After spending all this money, I am sure I would have some left over, as tight as I am, maybe $20,000 - $30,000, may I would invest a little bit of that, put some money up for a rainy day. My next adventure would be to open my small dream business. A resale shop, I would hire a couple of people, one to do the books, one to work in my store. My 15 year old son and husband could help me work in the store also. They could learn the business, which my husband already knows somewhat, but I would have something to teach my son. Maybe one day leave him the business. This would generate another small business in American, create a few jobs, and help other Americans by giving them an opportunity to shop for cheaper prices. Purchase nice used items at a good price.
I believe in the system that I am my Brothers Keeper, I am my Sisters keeper, we all have to work together to get out of this rut, but will we, will we be able to? Is Obama going to be enough? Are they really going to change things or will the American people be put to the side once again, by the Gate Keepers and the greedy Lobbyists, begging at the steps of our Politicians?
Like Martin Luther King, I Had a Dream, well at least I can enjoy the dream.
Update, I don't know how they came up with the $240,000, or by what statistics. Bernacke announced they are willing to pay up to $7.4 trillion dollars for the bailout.
