Longtime lurker and first time diarist wants to say something about what the Daily Kos means to him.
And so he shall . . .
I’ve been a lurker here since the summer of 2004, and finally joined during the primaries of this year’s campaign. While I’ve made a few comments (a very few), until now I’ve never posted a diary, though I’ve started one more than a few times. But I’ve been checking in here several times a day in the past few months, and almost every time I do, I learn something, or feel something, or am compelled to do something.
And every time I appreciate it.
I thought I’d like to say something before the celebrating starts tomorrow. I’d like to express my gratitude to the Daily Kos community. Thank you for being here. Thanks for all the intelligence, all the energy and commitment; thanks, even, for the occasional bickering, for all your negative capability; thanks for the snark, and the general good humor; thanks for the unremitting wellspring of information; and thanks to all the individual Kossacks who put their singular personalities, intellects and quirks out there day in and day out, for the rest of us to read, to feel, and to engage.
I know I’m not alone in my quiet lurking. I’d hate to hazard a guess as to how many other relatively silent types like me there are around here. Probably lots.
Well, I’m not about to commit the indignity of speaking for others; maybe, if there are others, they can comment here should the desire arise. But for myself, I just want to say again that I’m mighty grateful that the Daily Kos exists. It’s kept me going, kept me positive, kept me doing the little things I’ve been able to do to contribute to what will be one of the most important and powerful events of my lifetime.
I look forward, with both humility and nearly abject joy, to tomorrow and Barack Obama’s election.
Thanks everyone.
