I am ecstatic that Obama has won the election. However, there is still Indiana to be counted, a state of particular importance to me because it is my state. We haven't voted Democratic since LBJ.
This is amazing.
97% of precincts are reporting currently, Wayne county is the only county without any results in, at least according to CNN.com's map.
OBAMA IS LEADING BY 15,684.
In 2000, Bush beat Gore by 4,000 votes in Wayne county.
In 2004, Bush beat Kerry by 5,811 votes in Wayne county.
Obama will win the popular vote in Indiana.
I want to cry, I never thought this day could come so soon.
Congratulations to Senator Obama, and Senator Biden.
Most of all though, congratulations to Indiana, especially the large African-American population, for getting out there and voting. This is a great moment for all of us.
This is breaking, I have yet to see anyone call Indiana for Obama, I could be wrong, but this is unlikely. I will add anymore news of Indiana's results as they come.
UPDATE: From what everyone has said, Obama only lost Wayne county by 1100 votes or so. Other counties with 92-99% reporting favor Obama it seems, Lake, Viggo, for instance. Allen county has 98% but it still does not look like enough to put McCain over the top. Obama's leading by around 16,000. It looks good folks.
UPDATE 2: wanderindiana gave us a wonderful link, with the results of Wayne county. I feel comfortable declaring Indiana for Obama.
UPDATE 3: CNN POSTED WAYNE COUNTY'S RESULTS! With 99% reporting, Obama leads 1,335,442 to McCain's 1,318,698. Very close, but I think I can safely say Obama is going to win (especially since Lake County and Vigo County are the majority of the 1% left, and it leans heavily towards Obama.) I have no idea how to feel right now! This can't be real! Pinch me! I am sooo happy!
FINAL UPDATE FOR THE NIGHT: I'm so tired, I'm going to call Indiana for Obama. Screw you CNN and Wolf Blitzer, for tonight I'm going to call it first. It's not 100% official, but its just as official as you guys calling random states with 0% of the precincts reporting. Good night all, I know it will be a wonderful tomorrow :)
