Hello Friends,
Well we did it. 1000 years from now they will remember this night and what America decided.
This morning every child...black, white, asian, latino, & native american wakes up to a future in a country where they really can believe that anything is possible.
I remember when I was in 1st and 2nd grade and I wanted to the President. Sounds funny now, right? Who in their right mind would dream of being a politician? Well, I did.
I am old enough to remember a time when that was a beautiful dream just like being an astronaut or a fireman.
There were children of many casts and colors that never dreamed of the same thing as I did so many years ago. That has ended...
As they sang in Rocky Horror..>DON'T DREAM IT, BE IT....
My love of America has waxed & waned over the years, but today I have never been more proud of our country than I am now.
In 1607 the first Slaves arrived in America and even after the Declaration of Independence was signed the shadow of our original sin stretched three centuries all the way to the 1960's.
Michael Donald was the last black man lynched in 1981 in Mobile, Alabama by two members of the Ku Klux Klan. He was a 19 year old teenager killed for no other reason than the color of his skin and being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
America you have taken a massive and giant step forward and today all Americans should be proud.
Did we end racism? No. Did we take another step on the way to ending racism? Absolutely!!!
FEEL GOOD AMERICA. THIS IS A TOUGH TIME WE ARE ABOUT TO GO THROUGH AND HOPE WILL HELP THE DARK SEEM MORE LIKE THE DAWN THAN THE DUSK....
I am proud of all of you that chose hope over fear. Remember. There is nothing more "anti-american" than questioning the patriotism of another American.
