For all of you out there who want some encouragement about red states turning blue
Please read this article from the Dallas Morning News:

The Democratic Party turned enough Texas State House Districts Blue yesterday to make the House 76R-74D.
Now, in State House District 105 - the district in which I work - basically the city of Irving (a suburb west of Dallas)- home of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Stadium - the Republican is only ahead by 25 votes.
Recount is very likely.
However, there is something else critically important: THERE ARE OVER 280 PROVISIONAL BALLOTS OUTSTANDING. I also understand there are a very large amount - in the hundreds - of military ballots which have yet to be counted.
The military kids in this district are definitely blue collar - and I would guess they will tilt towards the Democrats.
If the Democrat - Mr Romano - takes this seat - the TEXAS STATE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WILL BE TIED 75-75. This is critical for the 2010 census and the redistricting that will occur. This could undo the damage that Tom Delay did in 2004 when the Republicans picked up 5 seats by horrendously gerrymandering our Congressional districts.
I am not a Texas constitutional scholar - I have no idea how this plays out as to who is in charge if there is a 75-75 tie. What I do know is that whoever wins, the despised Republican Speaker of the House - Mr Craddock is going down in January.
The incumbent Republican, Mrs Harper-Brown, has been a tool of the Texas Republican Party - and therefore a tool of Focus on the Family. She is really really big into school vouchers - an idea despised by citizens of Irving. And to add insult to injury has been into deregulation of Texas utilities. Every summer electric bill these voters received all year was like a piece of campaign literature against the Republicans.
THE TIMES - THEY ARE A CHANGIN' - DEMOCRATS IN LEADERSHIP IN THE TEXAS STATE HOUSE???? - WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT.
