Time for the rubber to meet the road.
Senator Reid, Democrats are feeling pretty good today. We picked up seats in the House. We picked up seats in the Senate. And of course, BARACK OBAMA is going to be the next PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. (Feels real good to write that.) Thanks for all you have done in the past.
However, Democrats are now in the majority in the Senate. And there seems to be some housekeeping to be done.
It is reported that you are having a meeting this week with Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT). Do you already have an agenda? Several things pop into my mind that may be worth discussing.
Senators are free to vote their conscience on the issues. I have no problem with them disagreeing. If they endorse Republicans, I do have an issue but I respect their opinion. If they up the ante and actively campaign for Republicans, that crosses the line in my opinion. We are not playing tiddlywinks. Finally, if they speak out against the Democratic candidate at the Republican National Convention, they have passed the point of no return. Inexcusable. No explanation needed or wanted. Goodbye.
Sen. Reid, please explain to me and all of the other Democrats why there is any debate at all with regards to Joe Lieberman's future with the Democratic Party. He is not a Democrat. He is Independent. Seniority positions are for Democrats. Joe Lieberman can be the head of any committee that the Independent Party controls. Joe Lieberman CANNOT be the head of any DEMOCRATIC committee.
Senator Reid, let's get this new era off on the right foot. Tell Joe he will not be given ANY seniority based positions in the Democratic Senate. Any other response is UNACCEPTABLE.
Fellow Kossacks, please take the time to let Sen. Harry Reid know your thoughts before his meeting this week with Joe Lieberman.
You can email him at his Senate office
