With all the back-stabbing that is going on in the Republican Party, aren't we all very lucky that McCain didn't win? Being a good loser, as McCain showed with his words of concession on Tuesday, restores a little of the honor that he almost completly lost in his quest for the Presidency. But being a bad loser only shows what kind of charater you really have.
Nothing wrong with being ambitious, energetic, and full of yourself. But without the vision that there is another world other than your own, you are surely to be on a very bumpy road. All of these so-called sources within McCain’s camp that are throwing shots at Palin just confirm my reason for voting for Obama. Steady and strong beats crazy and erratic any day. Now that the "truth" is coming out from McCain aides I wonder how long it will take before Palin and her folks stop taking the high road and hit back. And if she never does, is that telling us that she was a "diva", and her family is a bunch of "Wasilla Hillbillies"? Just when you thought the show was over the second act begins.
I never thought that McCain wanted this and some day he will actually say it, but not now. Since a little of the dust has settled, I think a lot of the blame needs to go to his campaign team. I know he is top dog and it is "his" campaign, in his words he even said that the blame should be all his. Yes some of his honor was restored in my eyes. But remember, the Republican Party had a lot to do with this. How much influence did they have on his campaign? He felt he had to have the base in his pocket to win. It was the RNC that is in the middle of the "cloths-gate" issue, it was their money. It didn’t help him that he had to go with a lot of the "Bush-ites" for his campaign. He couldn't even pick his own VP and had to go with someone else. His book about the run for the White House is gonna be an interesting read.
Americans from all over this country will some day look back and say that even though they didn’t vote for Obama they are glad the rest of us did. Can you imagine the cabinet that McCain would have chosen? I am sure Joe the Plumber would have a spot. I have no problem with regular everyday Americans having their say and getting their 15 minutes of fame, but damn, at least try and become a little more knowledgeable. Don’t lie. Joe doesn’t make enough money to buy a $250,000 business, so why is he crying about Obama killing his "dream"? BULL. Joe gets on the campaign bus and is interviewed, his name is spoken by millions everyday for days. That is what the McCain campaign ran on for days. What kinda campaign issue is that? Lipstick on a Pig, William Ayers, Paris Hilton, and on and on and on. Is that McCain, his campaign team, or the RNC?
I still say that the comments by Colin Powell about the narrowing of the Republican Party are the most telling. "The Fundamentals of the Republican party are Strong". With people clearly having a choice and a clear difference in the direction each candidate wants to lead the country, most of us were looking at this election for a lot of different reasons. The economy, the wars, the candidates, and may more. But I feel that there was one thing all of us voted for is above everything else. With this election we all put "Country First".
