Sick of Georgia GOTV diaries?
Yeah, me too.
But we only have 7 hours left to make a difference in that race. 7 hours left to turn a blood-red Cheney/Bush obstructionist vote into a another vote for health care reform, 2.5 million new jobs, and an end to the war in Iraq.
Think a few phone calls made this late in the game won't make any difference? Read on, these stories are from today, from our phone bank volunteers in California.
Read on, then pick up the phone and start dialing.
108 year-old Nannie Haygood from Culloden, GA, a life-long Democrat proudly told a volunteer on Saturday she'd be driving herself - and 4 of her best friends - to the Culloden City Hall and Fire Department to vote today. This morning, the volunteer touched base with her again. Not only did she drive her friends to the polls, she's now shuttling other seniors in her retirement community to polls too!
A volunteer in Petaluma spoke with a single mom named Clarice in a suburb of Atlanta, who registered and voted for the first time in her life on Nov. 4th for Barack Obama. She was completely unaware there was an election today! The volunteer gave Clarice her poll location, and Clarice told our volunteer she would go out to vote today and bring her coworkers with her!
Another volunteer caller dialed a wrong number, but before she could excuse herself and go on to the next call, the person on the other end asked her if she could help her find her polling location. The volunteer helped the woman look up her polling place online and now she and her son will go out this afternoon to vote.
These are just three stories from three volunteers. Multiply these stories by hundreds, if not thousands, from callers all over the country.
Folks, we have the power. We can make change happen. We just have to pick up the phone and dial.

TIPS FOR CALLING GEORGIA
LEAVE MESSAGES: Most, if not all, the people you'll be calling are known Democrats who voted for Martin before. Feel free to leave a message reminding them to vote on Tuesday (polls are open from 7am to 7pm) letting them know where their polling place is, that they need to bring a photo ID with them, and encouraging them to bring other friends and family with them.
TALK TO OTHERS IN THE HOUSEHOLD: If the person you're trying to reach isn't there, but you talk to someone else in the household, give them all the same information you would if you were leaving a message on a machine.
ABSENTEE BALLOT INFORMATION: If the person hasn't mailed in their absentee ballot yet, they must bring their ballot with them to their polling place and vote in person. They will have to cancel their absentee ballot in the the manager's presence.
