I'm so fricking tired of the clown from Searchlight.
At the opening of the new Capitol Visitor's Center in Washington, D.C. ( which, BTW, was over-budget and past deadline, like most things in Congress), Reid had this pearl of wisdom to commemorate the event:
"In the summertime, because (of) the high humidity and how hot it gets here, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol," Mr. Reid said at the official dedication yesterday morning. He was a former Capitol police officer and remembers long lines of visitors waiting in Washington's oppressive summer heat. He said the center is long overdue.
Perfect. Insult Americans coming to their country's capitol and people from around the world as well.
Maybe this wouldn't irk me as much if Reid hadn't been such an idiot from day one, from promising an end to the Iraq War after the 2006 election to being a wilting flower to Lieberman's open hostility to the Democratic Party.
And it also makes me angry at the entire Senate Democrats for making him leader. This is is a guy you want in charge, Senate Dems? Really? A guy who can't even give a perfunctory speech at a building opening?
"My staff has always said, 'Don't say this,' but I'm going to say it again because it's so descriptive because it's true," Mr. Reid said. "Well, that is no longer going to be necessary."
There's all sorts of things that are true that you don't say for politeness reasons. To do that as a major public official in a public setting is absolutely asinine.
Hee-haw Harry.
