"Hello ladies and gentlemen. First of all let me be clear, I will answer your questions today concerning the Governor of Illinois. But after today, as you know, I have a job to prepare for and I think the American people deserve a President that is focused on their problems and not the issues of a corruption that I have nothing to do with. If there are issues or connections that include me, then I will speak to them. Otherwise I am going to go forward and work on the issues I was elected to deal with. So, to clearly state my position again. After today there will be no more questions answered concerning the issues that the Federal Prosecutors are handling. If they need my help they know how to contact me and I will work with them. Now, for your questions".
That is what President Elect Obama needs to do to get this out in the open and behind him. There is no connection and that has already been established. But no matter what is said the "Other Side" is salivating. Hoping to keep this story out front of the issues that affect us everyday. I am not being affected by what the Gov of Illinois is doing, but I am being affected by a slumping market, job loss, the price of food, and on and on and on. I want Obama to be concerned about these things. I am sure that the procecutors will handle their job, let Obama handle his.
You can ask almost any black man that you if they feel they have to work harder than their counterparts to get as far and they will all say "YES". That is why, as black men, we never thought this would happen. There are two basic reasons for Obama's election. His qualifications and the absolutly terrible job that Bush has done. If Bush had been a half-assed President I don't think that Obama would have bubbled to the top. The country was so much for change that we went all the way.
I once worked at a major trucking company in Virginia. I was a computer operator and worked the night shift. I wanted more so I decided to use the GI bill and go to school. I earned my degree while I worked. My supervisor was not the kind of guy to do any more than get the job done. No reason to improve things... Well he and the Vice President of our department didn't see eye to eye on that idea. So after being supervisor for 3 years he was demoted to just an operator. I threw my name in the hat for the position because all of my reviews were good; I knew the job and felt I could do it. I had a few ideas for improvements and I brought them up during my interview process. Well I got the job, but when it was offered the position I was told, "You are not gonna have the same chance that AL (the previous supervisor) got. If you don't do a good job we will just fire you". At that moment the truth came rushing back to me. I am a Black Man. We don't get the same opportunities as the white guys.
This was in 1981 and times were different, but as they say, "The more things change, the more they stay the same". I was the supervisor of computer operations for 10 years, so I guess I must have done a good job. I left and took another position in the department. That same VP called me into his office 3 separate times to ask me if I was sure I wanted to leave. Our initial conversation came back to me and the irony..Oh well
Republican Conservatives are still doing the same things that got them kicked out of office, political games. Bill Ayers, Rev Wright and now the Governor. If he was from Ohio what would they be saying. They would be trying to find any connection to Obama that they could. You see them on Fox or Morning Joe and they say "We're not syaing he is connected, but". Sure you're not... This guy has not had anything to do with Obama or his campaign for years, but as usual the truth doesn't matter to them. Going forward the worms are gonna be digging for any connection whether it be the truth or not. They keep saying they are gonna rebuild the party but you can't do that by continuing to do the same things that broke you in the first place. I guess that is why they lost, they never learn.
So Obama needs to continue to remember who and what he is. "A BLACK POLITICIAN". He must remember that the fight is "never" really over, even after the election. Mr. Obama needs to understand that the expectations are high and he will not get the same sympathy or respect from America as a white politician. He is gonna have to work twice as hard to get as far. Be twice as clean. May not be something that you want to hear but it is the truth..............Be careful my Brother
