I think the time to handle this sort of situation has come, and it just begs for the minds here to weigh in on how this should be handled, and what statement needs to be made about what we will tolerate and what we expect. Got a minute? I'll be right back.
Barack is being unduly attached to Blagojevich, again its only by proximity, but again the spin speakers are being tested, and they're just itching for a good piece of rope to hang someone with. What the Dem party needs and what we need to do is come up with a method for surgically removing the malignancy ,whenever and wherever it festers. (if I may make a medical analogy.)
Let's start by demanding our own side live up to the ideals of a citizen government. Sen Obama made a statement with his resistance to lobbyist money during his campaign. The DNC needs to lead on this, and any and all Dems should be saying that the governor needs to step aside and there should be either the prescribed solution or a special election for both vacated positions.
I don't really care what method most quickly gets him to step aside, but being that I'm in Arizona, the appointment of Janet Napolitano to Homeland Security has had some disheartening consequences, like the ascention of a Republican AG to replace her.
My feeling is that we're on the threshold here and the work is just beginning. Now is the time to put out ideas and set the table. And when you think about it, that's quite an improvement for us to be part of the process. Let's give our own politicians something to work with and let them know we'll be there to watch their backsides. (Actually that's another story, but it sure seems those political sorts have very sensitive backsides.)
Since I began this essay, I hear that Mayor Daley is calling for Blago to 'do the right thing'. All ironies aside, that's what I'm talking about. All Dems need to make it known that everyone deserves their day in court, but this Dem party will not remaian silent for one of its own when he/she/it is being charged with felony charges on this level. Spiro Agnew knew when to leave the table, it time to show all corrupt politicians the door. We have a key, now.
