Paul Krugman has a new hit piece out on Obama at the NY Times. More below the fold ...
Before this primary season I really respected Krugman and I understand that he believes that Obama is wrong on Health Care. I can easily respect him even though we disagree on that issue. However, now he has gone to just attacking Obama supporters because, you know we are young idiots who cannot think for ourseleves:
I won’t try for fake evenhandedness here: most of the venom I see is coming from supporters of Mr. Obama, who want their hero or nobody. I’m not the first to point out that the Obama campaign seems dangerously close to becoming a cult of personality. We’ve already had that from the Bush administration — remember Operation Flight Suit? We really don’t want to go there again.
He now is comparing Obama to Bush? And the venom is coming from Obama supporters. It is pretty easy to find posts here and other places that have venom towards Obama. This interview of Obama on Politico drew some fire for example:
So far he's answered nothing in terms of policy substance. Lots of smiles, chin holding and a Messiah complex. So far, Obama is vaporware.
How do we get Krugman to stop taking pot shots? When he argues for mandates he is effective. When he tries to extrapolate that this means Obama is not progressive he is stretching. When he starts attacking Obama's supporters and being more strident than Hillary supporters he is losing credibility. We need Krugman for the general. He is a truly effective spokesperson for progressive ideas and policies. When he sticks to policies he is very powerful, when he moves to punditry, he "won’t try for ... evenhandedness". Let alone the fake kind.
