It's been kind of funny to watch. My father, smug now because he's supported Obama since last May (he'd read both books already), has gotten to see us all move over from our respective candidates.
My mom was the last convert. (Okay, partly that was that her original candidate, Hillary, stayed in the race) -- deciding to change her support Obama only after listening to Bill campaigning in SC. But Mom's fond of Hillary on a lot of levels, even as Obama is reminding her more and more of her own experiences campaigning for RFK back in 1968.
So why do I say she's now in the hearts category? Because I just got an email with this. A second look shows it's gone out to all her friends and family.
Yeah. Momma's spammin' for Obama.
The link takes you to a puffy sweet article in the Boston Globe about how Barack is taking today off to spend it quietly with Michelle and their daughters.
A little thank-you to his wife for tolerating his presidential ambitions?
In the thick of his primary battle with Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama is taking Valentine's Day off. Obama and his wife of more than 15 years, Michelle, are spending the afternoon with their two daughters, Sasha and Malia, before going out to dinner in Chicago, according to his campaign. No events, no interviews, no nothing -- just a little family time and a little romance. No word yet on gifts, or whether he's still got that BlackBerry on his hip.
Mom's so touched and pleased that he's a good father. And then she mentions my dad woke her with 4 dozen roses (this year was their 40th wedding anniversary).
Me? My teeth hurt a bit, but then my husband hasn't coughed up with any flowers yet today so color me Little Miss Cynical.
At least until I get some love and flowers too.
