The numbers were already looking good for him here, but Barack Obama has picked up a critical endorsement that will have major influence on voters.
Ben and Jerry have officially endorsed Barack Obama.
Vermont, of course, is the forgotten state in the March 4 primaries, with everyone mentioning Texas and Ohio, some including Rhode Island, and one or two people remembering that the Vermont separatist movement has not succeeded yet and we actually do vote.
The big guns have already endorsed, with Senator Leahy and Representative Welch doing so on a joint conference call. Senator Leahy is one of the left's most respected Senators, and we are going to be sending Representative Welch to Washington for a long time to come.
But now, the cultural icons have endorsed.
The founders of Ben & Jerry's endorsed Barack Obama on Monday, and lent his Vermont campaign two "ObamaMobiles" that will tour the state and give away scoops of "Cherries for Change" ice cream.
"If there was ever a need for real change, and if there ever was a candidate to inspire us and make that happen, it's now," said Ben Cohen.
Added Jerry Greenfield: "Barack is showing that when you lead with your values and follow what you have inside that good things will happen."

If he does not blow Hillary Clinton away in Vermont, I will be very, very shocked. Now, all we need is the Senator from Illinois to make an appearance here. The last (only) time we have had a candidate come here was a certain governor from Arkansas in 1992, and he turned the state blue. Our favorite midwestern Senator could turn this state completely Obama Blue.
