First, I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who has phone-banked, donated, or volunteered in any way for the Obama campaign. The campaign has depended on the strong grassroots support of people like us, and I beleive that Kossacks have thus far come through stellarly for them.
Tonight we won Wisconson by a huge margin, beating even the most optimistic poll numbers. This is a big win, and another step on the way to the nomination for Senator Obama. What worries me, however, is that tonight I have seen a lot of prognostication that the race is already over. I want that talk to stop now.
You see, we're down 30 and in trouble.
I remember the last time we talked like this. It was right after the Iowa Caucuses. We had walked out the big winners, and the polls were looking good for us in New Hampshire. Do you remember how that went?
The point I want to underscore is that we cannot allow ourselves to declare victory until Barack crosses that magic line of 2000-someodd delegates and is the party's nominee. Until we reach that point, we need to keep working like we're down 30 and in trouble.
Nothing but your calls, your shoe-leather, and your money will bring this nomination home. Tommorrow morning when you wake up, I want each and every one of you to open up your preferred news outlet (dKos counts), smile at the headline you see, and then get right back to work.
This isn't over until January 20th, 2009.
