Yesterday on Hardball, Chris Matthews humiliated a Texas State Senator who was unfamiliar with the work Senator Obama has done as a United States Senator.
I'm not sure what Chris Matthews gotcha piece was trying to prove, but by the time he was through humiliating Texas State senator, Kirk Watson, he was literally drooling with satisfaction.
I decided it was time to tell MSNBC exactly how the blogs feel about this intellectual lightweight and self-absorbed, ill informed, blowhard.
Here's what I told MSNBC.
To the Editor,
Chris Matthews seems more concerned about petty gotcha attacks then informing the electorate at this critical time. A Texas State Senator, unfamiliar with Senator Obama's record in the Senate was humiliated by Matthews yesterday on Hardball because he was unfamiliar with Senator Obama's work in the Senate. Unfortunately, Mr. Matthews is also ignorant of Senator Obama's accomplishments in the Senate.
The facts are that Obama passed the most comprehensive ethics reform bill in history (with Bush as president), worked on nuclear non-proliferation and securing loose stockpiles of weapons, passed a bill to provide a searchable database on federal contract grants, and even did some work related to the avian flu problem before it became popular. But most people don't know about this stuff, even the professional politicians who support him.

Chris Matthews was too lazy or preoccupied with his gotcha journalism to find out the truth and inform people about it. I'll take Keith Olbermann and David Shuster any day over Mr. Matthews. It's no wonder he is known in the blogs as "tweety bird" ("tweety" for short) and not taken seriously.
If he loves politics so much, why doesn't he inform himself instead of turning his show into a kitschy, gotcha, gossipy showcase of his own ego?
