Did Anderson Cooper report a Wisconsin primary victory congratulatory call last night for the Obama campaign from--guess who--Al Qaeda? Yes, you heard it right the Ace of Base, the scourge of the middle-east, and the mothers of the mother of all middle eastern wars called Barack Obama's campaign to offer their congratulations. Well, if you were a deaf person or you were on the treadmill at the gym or in a bar you thought they did.
What really happened? Was it all a misunderstanding? Cui Bono? Photographic evidence after the jump.
They say (and we all know who they are) a picture is worth a thousand words...
Is it an artful photoshop hoax? People at Democratic Underground and Free Republic report having seen it and they're not usually on the same page about anything.
I personally saw this last night. I was watching CC with the TV sound muted so I wouldn't disturb my husband who was sleeping..Well, when I saw that I screamed out loud at the tv and immediately contacted CNN... so much for not disturbing my husband! I hope media matters or someone else picks this up. After Dobbs the other night about the "plagerism" and Michelle and now this, it is clear where CNN loyalty lies. (DU Poster Wendy)
I didn't see it, although ironically I was on an elliptical trainer at the gym, but what appears to have happened is that while Anderson Cooper reported that the Obama campaign received a congratulatory call from the Clinton campaign, closed captioning simultaneously reported that the call was from Al Qaeda. It's an easy mistake to make, right? I mean look how similar the two names are.
And now dueling threads (warning the Free Republic posters don't like Obama very much):

And that's the story. Oops. Honest mistake. Move along citizens.
