Everybody's soooo busy watching the candidate puppets dance on their strings, that few folks are paying attention to the latest slight of hand by the military industrial complex that will eventually end up bilking the US public for vital resources.
Yes, it's my favorite new conspiracy theory as of yesterday: I was eagerly telling my friends that the upcoming launching of a Navy missile to destroy the off-course spy-satellite would be a complete success.

...And it was! Why should we not be surprised by my amazing prediction?
Slight of the hand, folks. Can you imagine for a second that US spy-satellites would not have detonators routinely built onto on their fuel tanks with omni-directional receivers? If they go out of control you want to detonate these puppies so as to not fall into enemy hands.
Although they're not fooling the Chinese or the Russians for a second, the military industrial complex lies to the American public saying that the Navy missile interceptor struck a dying spy satellite, when in all probability it was simultaneously detonated the same moment the Navy missile reached the vicinity, close enough to look like a hit, but not close enough to nail the satellite. Sadly, the poor saps who launched the missile were in all likelihood oblivious to this deception.
"...During a Pentagon news conference Thursday morning, General Cartwright rebuffed those who said the mission was, at least in part, organized to showcase American missile defense or anti-satellite capabilities..." NY Times
But appearances are everything, and the US public will now be encouraged to throw yet more resources at a dangerous and elusive project that has for decades been a boondoggle.
I'm being paranoid, you say? No one would have the audacity to propagate such a huge lie? Remember how they boasted that the Patriot missile was shooting down all those Iraqi Scuds during the '90's war? Remember how we believed them?
"...The U.S.-made Patriot missile system claimed successes in shooting down the missiles, but many critics (see Ted Postol) claim that the accuracy of the Patriot missiles has been greatly exaggerated, and that they were actually 95% unsuccessful. ..."

You've come a long way, baby - NOT!
"...Take a look outside my window
I don't recognize that van
Someone standing in the doorway
Better make it while you can..."
