There have been a number of very concerned diarists and commenters writing to express their disapproval of candidate security operations lately.
Others have offered advice to the government or the candidate--or the candidate's spouse--about how better to protect themselves.
I think these diaries and comments are:
- Completely ridicuous, having been written by people who know nothing at all about the issues involved in securing candidates' persons; and
- Stir-up hysterical notions about certain scenarios in order to exercise their dramatic urges: there is no legitimate reason for them to be posted at all; and
- Make the rest of the site look stupid.
Nobody with anything legitimate to offer about these issues would offer them as gossip or chit-chat on a site like this--and frankly, these diaries are not at all within the stated goals of Daily Kos. There is a place for people-power, but protecting candidates is not that place.
That's it. Please do NOT post comments about security below.
