Now that I have your attention, I’ll admit right now that my use of "virgin" in this case simply refers to new voters – those who have never voted previously in an election, mainly because they are just reaching the legal age to vote.
The attention to this election by young voters, and those young people even too young to vote, is refreshing to me and gives me great hope for the future leadership of our country. After all, it will be these "virgin voters" who someday soon will be serving as leaders in organizations and communities that will influence the health of our social, economic, cultural, and ethical realities.
My tenth-grade neighbor is one of those leaders, but he jumped the gun on leadership and is already raising money for Barack Obama with an amazing project. More about this amazing project is after the fold.
Every.One.Counts. Every.$.Counts. The concept is simple. One voice counts; one dollar counts.
This is a grassroots effort by high school students supporting Obama. The leaders of this grassroots project are Ohio high school students, who for the first time in their lives are experiencing a presidential election process they will remember. My neighbor, an aspiring filmmaker, is currently living the life of an ordinary tenth-grade student involved in activities like cross-country, debate team, and . . . well, there is nothing "ordinary" about his new project. EveryOneCounts.org was established because:
Ohio high school students are finding a way to be part of the change we have been waiting for. Although not all of us can vote, we have a voice, and we are uniting to use our collective voice in support of Barack Obama. We believe that Senator Obama’s campaign is gathering more and more momentum because his message of hope includes every one of us, united together as individuals in one nation and caring about one world. We believe that our voice can make a difference, and we ask you to add your voice to ours and to voices across Ohio and the Nation.
To symbolize the power of hope and the message that every one can make a difference, we ask that everyone who supports Senator Obama send $1 to his campaign headquarters to show him and the nation that we are united behind his vision for our state, our nation, and our world. If we each donate $1 to show our unity, not only will we raise significant money, but we will also remind our nation that each individual can make a difference. We are the change we have been waiting for. Watch our video and join us. Your voice can change our nation and the world, and your dollar will make difference. Why? Because every one counts.

EveryOneCounts.org features a video created by my tenth-grade, aspiring-filmmaker neighbor, who incredibly is too young to vote during this presidential election.
Please rec and spread the word of this inspiring project by America’s future leaders.
