I am writing this story from the airport, as I am about to fly to Boston for work, so I won't be able to respond, but I wanted to share a little story that happened to me on the way in to the airport.
I parked in longterm parking at Baltimore Washington International Airport.
I was riding the shuttle bus from longterm parking. I sat down next to a Middle-aged African American woman. She was dressed up in nice clothes, a white hat with a feather, a white scarf. As I looked at her and made eye-contact she winked at me. I then noticed an "Obama 2008" sticker on her scarf.
"Nice Sticker" I told her.
"Thank you." Her smile grew. "I can't believe this is happening. I never thought I'd see it in my lifetime. It is so exciting."
"We're all excited." I told her.
"It's because of people like you; young people." She was glowing.
I just smiled bashfully. It was hard for me to take praise like that from this woman, I didn't do anything special. It's been a group effort. We both sat there in silence for a moment.
As the bus pulled up to the terminal and she stood to get her stuff I wished her a safe flight. As she got off the bus I could see she wore her Obama sticker with pride. And we can all wear our Obama stickers with pride.
I've never felt hope like this before.
Update:Arrived safely in Boston, first time on the rec list, thanks and happy Monday.
