As the national media focuses heavily on the horserace between our two terrific candidates for the Presidency, the Powers for Congress campaign has been working hard at the grassroots level to build momentum in our district to bring about the change America needs.
We have a few important developments:
New Web Site
First of all, we are proud to announce the launch of our redesigned web site, Powers for Congress.com. We are proud of the new look and feel, but most of all, the site enables the campaign to communicate easily with the people of our district as well as supporters from around the country.
Please come by and become a member of Club 26, our low-dollar monthly donation program. With lots of people contributing a little every month, we can really make a difference.
Serving With Jon Powers
Since we announced our campaign for Congress from the 26th District in New York, many of the people with whom I served in the Army, have come forward offering to share their stories about our service together. I was very honored. Eventually, we chose to share those stories on our web site, and it’s very popular. So popular, that we have decided to ask for others to come forward and share their stories of service.
We are reaching out to those with whom I served to contact us so that we can include your experiences with the people of our Western New York district. Please contact us HERE. Feel free to contact us about sharing your service stories or to ask for more information about our campaign for Congress.
30 House Parties in 30 Days
I recently completed my 30th house party in 30 days across the district.
Our goal was to start a conversation with the voters and listen to what is on their minds and to learn more about the issues concerning Western New Yorkers. While our opponent, Tom Reynolds, is raking in large donations from special interest groups in Washington, our team has been crisscrossing the district and listening to everyday voters.
From North Tonawanda to Geneseo, from Greece to Amherst, from Warsaw to Albion, people opened their homes so I could listen to nearly 600 neighbors. We held a conversation with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike. I listened to folks who are worried that their sons and daughters are leaving Western New York because there are few job opportunities, their small business health insurance costs rose over 30% in the last year, and they want our troops home safely, securely and soon
The Grassroots Report
Our campaign has also begun the door to door effort needed to take back NY-26. Nearly 50 members of the Powers Platoon hit the streets and we knocked on more than 1,200 doors in 20 degree weather. Take a look at the video and witness for yourselves the grassroots effort being put forth by the Powers Platoon!
I will continue to travel the entire district, and continue our conversation in every town; meeting people, making friends, gathering support, and enlisting folks in the Powers Platoon.
Enlist in the Powers Platoon and receive future Grassroots Reports.
Together, we have the power to change Washington.
