Of the 4 democrats running for the nomination to replace retiring Rep. John Peterson, Bill Cahir seems to be the only one with a website so far.
The very first thing posted is an endorsement from Paul Hackett, the original "fighting Dem" (who nearly beat mean Jean Schmidt in OH-02's special election in 2005). Hackett and Cahir served together in Iraq.
quote from the endorsement on the flip
On the civilian side, Bill has won awards as a journalist. He has worked on health care and labor issues in the U.S. Senate. He's got the knowledge, energy and the talent to be an effective congressman.
We need more veterans in Congress. We need people like Bill who will ask tough questions and look out for the best interests of our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines. And Bill won't be a doormat for anyone. He can be an effective leader for Pennsylvania on health care, the economy and Iraq.
On the Republican side, only everyone's favorite drunk-driver silver-spooner, Matt Shaner, has a website. Typical wingnut stuff.
Meanwhile, the Centre County GOP continues to be ripped apart by one Chris Exarchos. Good stuff:
Republican stress fractures may be showing on the Centre County Republican Committee's Web site, where photos, 100-word campaign pitches and contact information have been posted for two out of three of the party's 5th Congressional District candidates from the county.
State College businessman Matt Shaner and county Republican Chairman G.T. Thompson have been front and center on the home page of www.centregop.org since last week, but similar material about former Centre County Commissioner Chris Exarchos was still nowhere to be found on Sunday. Asked about this last week, Exarchos, campaigning in Venango County, said no one in the Centre County Republican Committee had asked him for material.
Exarchos made a lot of enemies by running an ill-conceived write-in campaign to hold onto his seat as County Commissioner last year, despite losing the nomination in the primary. The result was a Democratic majority on that body for the first time in many years.
5 more Republicans from other counties within this R+10 district are also seeking the nomination.
