First conservative group Citizens United released Hillary: The Movie, a hatchet job of a DVD designed to demonize HRC.
Now, just to cover their bases CU is at it again, this time taking aim at Barack Obama.
More after the jump.
>The New York Times' Caucus blog is reporting CU is out there gathering dirt in preparation of an anti--Obama film. Don't you love the lack of pretense that there could be anything positive about Obama to portray in the film. Talk about propaganda.
This is the quote that got my blood boiling (emphasis mine):
"Obama is a completely clean slate," said David Bossie, president of the group. "We will develop the image that we want the people to see. We’re doing the hard work of the research right now. The American people don’t know much about Obama, except that they like his speaking style."
This is what the GOP hate machine does best; it demonizes opponents and shapes its own truths, whether that abides by the dictionary definition of "truth," well - who cares?
But don't think we Democrats are the sole target of CU's scorn...
In the Republican primary, Citizens United produced television ads critical of John McCain, saying he was no different from Mrs. Clinton. With Mr. McCain the presumptive Republican nominee, Mr. Bossie said the commercials will no longer be aired.
Yeah, but we should certainly not let people forget that CU is equally unhappy with the presumptive GOP nominee, should we? HELL NO!
Well, I can certainly see why they're pissed at McCain...
The conservative group is also looking to the U.S. Supreme Court for help in advertising the anti-Hillary movie. It is opposing a federal regulation, under the McCain-Feingold Act, requiring that a disclaimer that identifies the group be placed at the end of television ads promoting the movie and criticizing Mrs. Clinton. It is also arguing that it should not have to disclose how much it spent to produce the movie and the ads, nor who contributed to it. The Supreme Court is scheduled to decide next week whether it will hear the case.
Considering the make-up of SCOTUS, how do you think that case will be decided? But I'd love to see their donor base, wouldn't you?
So, Obama-ites, while the GOP has had the long knives out for Hillary for some time, now they are taking aim at Barack. We knew this day would come. Conservatives just aren't going to let us walk over them in November even if the electorate is moving left.
Watch out for CU - and remember that all we need to defuse these guys is to say: "Hey, these guys even ran ads against McCain! They're equal opportunity haters, not to be taken seriously."
