For those of you hoping to stay up-to-the-minute with the weekend's presedential voting news, I hope this list of caucus convening and poll closing times will be helpful. All times are Eastern.
Saturday, February 9
9 a.m. EST: The first Nebraska Democratic Caucus convenes. County party chairs are allowed to set caucus times in Nebraska, and different counties will meet at different times throughout the day.
10 a.m. EST: Virgin Islands Democratic Caucuses convene. These "caucuses" appear to be North Dakota and New Mexico-esque "firehouse primaries." A site on each of St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix will be open for several hours to accept presidential and delegate preference ballots. Of the 20 candidates for delegate on the ballot actoss the three islands, 18 are pledged to Obama and two are uncommitted.
11 a.m. EST: Kansas Republican Caucuses convene. We should know early in the afternoon whether The Huckster can pick this one up. It's winner-take-all by CD and statewide.
4 p.m. EST: Washington Caucuses convene. This should provide the day's first results on the Democratic side of the ledger.
6 p.m. EST: Virgin Islands Democratic Caucuses conclude.
8:15 p.m. EST: First Nebraska Democratic Caucus results reported by the Nebraska Democratic Party.
8:30 p.m. EST: Nebraska Caucus chairs are required to report the results of presidential preference voting to the NDP by this time.
9 p.m. EST: Polls close in Louisiana. After a full day of crunching caucus results, we now get to crunch some primary results.
Sunday, February 10
1 p.m.: First Maine Democratic Caucuses convene. Like Nebraska the day before, each local caucus may be convened at a different time.
8 p.m. (at least I'm guessing by the calendar of events on the Maine Democratic Party web site): Maine Democratic Caucuses are required to have concluded by this time.
