Admira William J. Fallen has resigned as commander of the U. S. Forces in the Middle East. The reasignation came after an article was published in an Esquire magazine which suggested that the Admiral was in disagreement with the Bush administration over Iran.
The U. S. Secretary of Defense Mr. Robert Gates has accepted the request made by the Admiral to resign and retire. He has disocunted all impressions that there was any wide difference over the Iran issue.
I think that the Admiral made the right choice. No purpose has been serves through war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Pakistan, which is the frontline ally in the so called war against terror is itself in the grip of terror. Suicide bombings in Pakistan and Iraq have killed a large number of innocent people. What purpose will be served by attacking Iran and opening a new front? The American people should also think about it. The entrie region is disturbed as a result of American policy. There is extreme resentment in the minds of people which is fuelling extremism.
The United States must rethink it policy on war against terror and bring peace to the region by cooperating with the countries in the fields of education, human resource development and health sector.
You cannot kill extremism through bombs and bullet
