It is easy to be a good winner, but character shows when you lose, I argue she loves power more than democracy.
My feelings for Clinton have been evolving. Simmering and seething. I think I might be starting to feel loathing.
Isn’t that sad? Me... a tree hugging pacifist who more than anything wants Bush out.
But why do I want Bush out?
Because I want the USA to stand for democracy and reason. I want our press to be free and open and the will of the people to matter more than who owns the media and who has connections to power. Hillary has to me turned these principles down. I do not say this lightly-- I won't vote for her.
I see Clinton as turning her back on reality and grasping at straws and swinging with large sticks in a wide blind sweep. She is not winning. The CNN favored ploy (asked for and given) is to flash back and forth the delegate count for Obama v. Hillary with that for McCain v. Huckabee. "Oh my, it is a tight one for the democrats ain’t it Honey... look at this close count here on CNN... " Is it still news that McCain is ahead of Huckabee in the delegate count?? Why does CNN do this?
It sure is true that 1611 to 1480 looks to be a mighty close race next to 1325 to 267. But is there any more that an informed person would want to know? Alas -- Republican races are often winner take all events—while democratic rules never allow this. In a Republican race for the nomination—a couple of winner take all state can wipe out 100 delegate lead, this CAN NOT HAPPEN in a democratic race. It is IN FACT not possible for Hillary Clinton to catch up to Barack Obama in delegates, which decides the nomination. In years past, losers know they have lost and bow out gracefully (more on this is another time)—they don’t say in and try to drag down and ruin the winner. Al Gore did not have the required delegate when Bradley dropped out on March 8 of 2000.. but he knew that the lead of Gore could not be overcome even if he suddenly started winning all the states. There is more than can be said about the math and on and on – but is has been said all over Daily Kos and I won’t repeat. The bottom line is... really , the race is over. Obama won. He won Texas. He won the popular vote. He won the Caucus vote. He won more states. We won more delegates. National poles still have him with a double digit lead over her. Hillary, for her many faults is not lacking intelligence. She knows this. Her top advisors know. Her husband knows. But they don’t care. (Fair play and dignity?) They send their advisors and pundits out on the rounds to take the most inane, circuitous slices of primary pie to make absurd twists to claim she is ahead. Wacko...no, they know that many people watching only know what they are told. They will say anything (Obama’s minister gave a sermon that said 9/11 was partly our fault). They will try and break any rules that don’t help them (let’s count Michigan and Florida anyway).
