as some of you may know, skippy's music club has a mission statement that encompasses the late great louis armstrong's theory of music: there is two kinds of music - the good and the bad.
to that end, skippy has tried to bring his gentle readers the best in a wide variety of genres...from rock to alternative country, opera to golden oldies, jazz to the latest bands seen on fuse-tv.
but we never, ever, ever! will bring you any rush.
rush, is, in our opinion, the lamest band ever to foul the airwaves of music radio. the hooks are tepid, the tunes are forgettable, and geddy lee makes erasure sound macho.
and the lyrics? please. we hate "freewill." because the gist of "freewill" says "i will choose free will."
well, we hate to be the ones to point out the oxymorinic irony in that statement, but, if you can choose anything, you already have free will, and if don't have free will, you wouldn't be able to choose cornflakes for breakfast, let alone a high-concept hobbesian philosophy that sets you squarely in the center of the universe.
so no rush. ever.
but this does not sit well with some writers here at skippy. jim yeager, in particular, likes rush. but we are adamant. no writing about rush allowed.
ergo, all writers who support rush are now officially on strike at skippy.
because that's the sort of thing that's important.
