I'm onsite at the Take Back America progressive activist conference in D.C., where the keynote just kicked off... Robert Borsage of Campaign for America's Future is likening our current situation to the Great Depression in many ways.
Jesse Jackson is sitting next to me. On my right is my fellow Berkeleyan Susan Strong, founder of The Metaphor Project, who is presenting tomorrow. I"m surrounded by 2000 progressive activists, gathering to organize and take action.
Please join me in reporting on, linking to reports on, contributing questions for and comments on participants, in this, the biggest progressive gathering 'til Netroots Nation.
"'The house republican brand is so discredited that if it were a dogfood they'd take it off the shelf'.... that is, if we had a working Food and Drug Administration" - Borosage, quoting ???
A sea change election? Depends on whether we define the mandate big enough.
Borosage: "We have to mobilize to create the change we want made."
Any other Kossacks here? I see from mcjoan's FP diary that Darcy Burner is on the agenda today, presenting a plan for getting us out of Iraq.
I see a lot of lefty bloggers and radio hosts and video cameras here in the exhibit hall, so I expect a fair amount of coverage in the progressive blogosphere, more than any one of us could provide from onsite... can people please make comments with links they come across. I'll edit and update if the WiFi holds.
