I'm sorry, but the more I hear Hillary Clinton speak about how she is the "most electable" candidate, the more I dislike her candidacy. Because, the fundamental argument there is not that she is the best candidate, but rather that she is the candidate most likely to garner the most votes from an impressionable electorate.
And I realize that we have to have a Democrat as President, trust me, I'm not naive.
Honestly, I know there is a strong argument about the Supreme Court Judges to be made, and McCain really really scares me. Seriously, have you ever thought about how much PTSD this man suffers from? You just don't get tortured for five and a half years and come out okay. Especially if you are a Republican manly man type who doesn't seek therapy to deal with the myriad of issues that come from this aforementioned torture. Trust me, my dad was a psychologist for the VA for over 30 years - these guys are not sane. They are great guys, but they are damaged beyond repair.
But I really digress. The "electable" argument fundamentally boils down to this - he has more delegates, he has more of the popular vote, but I can beat McCain. This does not mean I'm a better person than Obama, but rather, I'm more palatable to the American people than he is. Even if you accept this argument, which I don't, I still wouldn't want Hillary Clinton as our Nominee.
I want the best candidate as our Nominee. I want the one who is honest, who treats us like adults, who moves us - I do not want the super delegates to settle for less than our Party deserves out of some superficial notion due only to polling data. I think that it behooves us as a Party, as more than a Party even - as an "IDEAL" - that we put forth the best of us. The best of us is clearly Sen. Obama, even Sen. Clinton cannot dispute that.
