It's not JUST that she has run a sometimes underhanded, sometimes sleazy campaign.
It's not JUST that a lot her policies are just not as good as her competitors.
It's not JUST that she's attempting to doom the Democratic party once again with the Clinton-brand "Divide and Don't Conquer" strategy.
It's not JUST that she want to subvert the very rules of the game she agreed to play.
It's not JUST that she seems to be attempting to emulate George W. Bush in her tendency to mislead, misconstrue, and prevent oversight whenever possible, almost on principle (this is not to mention outright lies like NAFTA).
No, it is all these things, and many more, but especially this:
The pretty much constant, unintentionally ironic, would-be-funny-if-it-wasn't-so-sad HYPOCRISY that spews out of the the Clinton campaign like pig shit out of a CAFO.
Crap like this:
"We will not tolerate being tied to this," Singer said, going on to describe the assertion as "reckless and frankly desperate." He added that it was a sign that the Obama campaign was "nervous" about their "political situation," concluding that it's "amateur hour over there."
Really Mr. Singer? THEY'RE the ones who are reckless and desperate. Why else would he be lying about the fact that the Obama camp is attempting to push the story?
All of my reporting on the passport story has been based soley on State department and Department of Justice resources. I have received no tips, ledes, contacts, guidance, spin, or anything else from any political campaign.
The story I broke last night about the former chief of consular affairs, Maureen Harty, having received an ambassadorship from Bill Clinton in 1997, was obtained by (1) researching state department web sites and other data bases for the names of current and former consular affairs chiefs, (2) finding a state department biography for Maureen Harty, (3) confirming her ambassadorship via a Clinton foundation web site that had the 1997 press release.
Wow, surprise surprise. This is after Bill Clinton made these lovely remarks.
It'd be a great thing if we had an election where you had two people who love this country, who were devoted to the interest of the country and people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues instead of all this other stuff which always seems to intrude on our politics.
Yeah, it is too bad Obama is the only person of integrity in this contest. But that just makes the decision that much easier.
And then...our lovable Mr. Mark Penn. We are almost numb to his remarks at this point, but it's instructive to look at them in compendium. Let's call it Penn's Greatest Hits:
Bill Richardson's endorsement that we tried to hard to get, considering the fact that he's a family friend and former Clinton official, and was also the most experienced candidate in the race? It's not significant.
Now that Clinton is ahead, national polls are finally significant again. (Despite the fact that they aren't.)
After March 4th, Obama's "momentum was broken". Apparently Wyoming and Mississippi didn't get the message, and neither did the Iowa delegates. Probably because they all don't matter.
Lets tie this up. Who exactly are the amateurs when one is leading in pledged delegates, total delegates, states by two to one, popular votes, and endorsements since February 5th, and the other can't even agree on who should take the blame for their miserable failure?
The Clinton campaign: Hypocrisy, Complacency, AND Brutal Thirst for Power. What's not to like?
