Fundraising is the one remaining area where Clinton could still plausably "pull ahead."
Obama crushed Clinton in February, raising $55M to her $35M. Could Clinton come back to beat him in March? That's what she's hoping.
While the media is focused on the February numbers and on Clinton's low finances as of March 1, she's revamped and gone over to a web-based fundraising operation much like Obama's, focusing on smaller donations from more people. The word is she's been doing very well, but we have no current numbers (that I know of) as of now.
Could she be planning a stealth run at winning the March money primary? Then she'd once again be able to paralyse the party with another "the tide is turning" diversion.
To stay viable in the media narrative Clinton needs periodic victories, no matter that they don't actually make a real difference. She can't do this with the pledged delegates, states won, or with the popular vote. As we know only the delegate count counts, both supers and pledged. The supers can't override Obama's lead unless they want to destroy their own party. So Clinton has lost, Obama has won.
All this being so, Clinton's not letting up. She's refusing to lose, no matter who gets hurt.
Hopefully she'll drop out soon or her money will dry up as her donors realize they're throwing their dollars away, or both, but this doesn't seem likely quite yet. She had some very big money lined up last week, to pay for a MI primary revote, and we won't see the March numbers till after the month is closed. The only way we can definitely avoid the possibility of a nasty surprise is to keep on donating.
So what I'm saying is, let's raise a mountain of money for Obama during the next week, before the end of the month. If you can, please contribute now. Please don't wait!
Here's the link to Obama's site to donate. Or here's one to my own little Obama fundraising page.
I'll send another $50 right now.
