Much ado has been made about Debbie Wasserman Schultz's refusal to take on Republicans even though her job as DCCC Red to Blue co-chair is taking on Republicans. As it turns out, this is not out of character for her. Follow me to the other side of the flip as we look back on Ms. Wasserman Schultz's resume.
1998, Chef at Manny's Restaurant.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz worked briefly as a chef at Manny's Restaurant in South Florida. Unfortunately she was fired for serving raw chicken to customers causing a massive salmonella outbreak. When asked about why she served raw chicken she replied
"I can't say enough good things about raw chicken; it has been my friend since I was first Chef at Manny's."
2001, Exterminator at Bill's Pest Control
Taking a few years off to find direction, Wasserman Schultz worked for a short stint at Bill's Pest Control exterminating rats and roaches. Two weeks into the job, however, she was fired for insubordination. Apparently, Bill's Pest Control didn't understand the unwritten rule that you do not exterminate pests in your own neighborhood.
2003, National Coordinator of "Stop Clubbing Baby Seals Program"
Re-emerging onto the national scene, DWS headed up a national campaign to stop clubbing baby seals. Controversy soon emerged, however, when it became clear that her tactics were to simultaneously support pro-clubbing and anti-clubbing individuals. Said DWS,
"I have a national role as one of three co-chairs of Stop Clubbing Baby Seals Program. All candidates, from Florida to Alaska, have criteria that have to be met to get on this targeted list. Let me guarantee that if they fulfill those criteria, these three Candidates will be part of our Stop Clubbing Baby Seals Program...period, end of story.
...so, as you can see, this is pretty much status quo for Debbie.
