Somewhere along the way the Clintons realized it was politically expedient to play the victim. It most likely stems from a dysfunctional family history, and We have become a part of their Family on a national level. But, that is another diary altogether.
So, a political enemy was born: The VRWC. A perfect foil. The Clintons needed to be hated, and the VRWC base needed someone to hate. The Clinton's intended relationship with Scaife and Murdoch(representatives of the VRWC) is beneficial for the Clintons and it is beneficial for Scaife and Murdoch. They(Murdoch and Scaife) create the beast; they feed the beast; and they starve the beast(their rabid base never gets the dangling political morsels they crave) . The VRWC sniper fire provides cover for the Clintons as they do the bidding of their corporate masters. The Clintons are now officially victims, and they rally a base that will support them even though they have been a major force behind the rightward move of American politics. They are forgiven because they have "saved" us from the junkyard dogs of the VRWC, and it could have always been worse. Scaife and Murdoch are happy because their corporate agenda is pushed forward.
Obama has decided he will not become an enemy. But, it seems Hillary is doing all she can to create the illusion of an enemy in Obama. Since Obama supporters are pinned with the cultish naivete label without reason, let me indulge that fantasy.
The Clintons have conditioned their minions to scare us with the unknowns: Look, it is McCain(your new President) over there; look, it is a ultra right wing supreme court over there; look, it is nuclear holocaust over there.........All I see is the heaving smoke-filled bellows of a mortally wounded dragon with a shining teflon girded knight atop with a gleaming sword ready to be collectively thrust into the dragonlady. Through the lair the vast possibilties of what is ours can be seen. The foundations are still there. They will be rebuilt upon anew. They will be better. It is time to toss the Clintons to the junkyard dogs.
Onward.
