According to Fort Bend Now, the local republicans are concerned with the number of cross-over voters the impact on down ticket republican candidates.
With a record voter turnout across the country, spurred on by a tight race for the Democratic presidential nomination, the Fort Bend County GOP chairman is cautioning Republicans against cross-voting.
Miller warned Republican voters to "be very cautious about the potential negatives to your Republican organization just to sway one race in the Democratic Primary."

They also have a feedback section which is very interesting. This is a sample:
Maybe FBGOP should recognize that 73% of the early’s voted in the Democrat Primary because the top of the ticket is considered much more vital than the down-ticket GOP candidates.
After 8 yr’s of GWB’s foibles, coupled with the pitiful sheenanigans of Tom Delay, plus a drive-by shooting war between local GOP’ers, record numbers of us have switched!
Unfortunately, the down-ticket GOP candidates may not see the volume of votes normally cast in a primary. But, new Dem’s who’ve tired of the GOP are OK w/supporting the Democrat candidates for the down-ticket, e.g., Richard Morrison vs T.Stavinoha, Ordenaux, et al. Or Nick Lampson vs the Gang of Nine (or is it Ten?).
Not surprising, you sure don’t hear the sound of celebration in the GOP at the apparent presidential nominee, John McCain. And, how can GOP Catholic’s stomach John McCain’s failure to repudiate the endorsement of John Hagee, the Catholic-hating-bating televangelist from San Antonio. His brand of Christianity is for Dispensationalists and Catholic’s, Morman’s and other denominations are considered false religions, certainly not part of Hagee’s millieu.
The mantra I’ve seen on all the down-ticket GOP candidates mail-outs all say the same old tired pablum that’s grown stale; "lower taxes, conservative, Christian (see Hagee above)."
It’s a new day. The chickens have come home to roost. However, many have flew the coop completely.
If you read the feed back, there is some indication that there are crossovers voting for Hillary to hurt Obama.
Texas is going to be interesting to watch tomorrow. I'll be interested to see how many "New Dems" we pick up.
