In the past the Clinton camp has accused the media of giving Obama a free ride. To a small extent that is true , he has gotten a free ride. But since the accusation the media has been unmerciful in their attacks and coverage of Obama.
You have heard tall the bovine fecal matter about the poor Clinton camp not getting a break from the media. well MSNBC has taken the charges to heart and become the axe man for Clinton against Obama. Well at least Joe Scarborough has taken the accusations to heart. On the morning of 04 Feb 08, the day of the primaries, all reporting on Morning Joe was all about Clinton experience, The Obama NAFTA memo contradicting his stump speech about the agreement, Rezko as a good friend of Obama, and basically calling Obama sleazy. Scarborough's word, not mine!
I recall when Michelle Obama made her comment about finally being "really proud of her country", by the way the adverb really is seldom used when quoting the comment, Scarborough jumped onto it with both feet and basically chastised Michelle for her comment, basically calling her everything but a patriotic person. But then when Clinton was talking about the Obama Muslim thing, she basically said that as far as she knew he was a Christian", leaving the comment to be interrupted anyway someone would care to. This was no different than Michelle's unfortunate comment, but somehow Scarborough did not see it as an affront to another person.
Just about a minute ago, a Clinton mouthpiece talking on MSNBC, when asked why Clinton could win Texas and Ohio, he mentioned Rezko and Obama and the indictment three times. No one called him on it! Not Mika not Scarborough! No one said that it was an allegation; they let him keep hammering the fact that he was a "friend" of Obama's. Finally David Schuster from MSNBC’s Hardball was on and he brought it to light that the man was doing everything short of accusing Obama of being in league with Rezko.
This is not unique to MSNBC, but it is more prevalent there. The same type of BS has come from CNN, Clinton News Network as well. I still do not see the bias that Clinton and her camp keep harping on. But would someone please remind me just who is getting the free ride? So would this dynamic changed if Obama began bitching about his coverage? No need to answer that! MSNBC and some of its pundits are deeply entrenched in the Clinton camp now. The news on Obama and letting the talking heads take their shots without a challenge will continue until the convention or one of them withdraws. It is fascinating watching this dynamic form and it will be equally as fascinating to see how far they will push this.
My point is basically, the MSM wants to advertise themselves as fair and balanced in their reporting on the candidates. They can be called a lot of things, but fair and balanced are not part of the conversation.
After word: After writing this I heard a Clinton supporter when talking about this Obama memo in Canada, calling it NAFTA-gate. Amazing what they will do during a campaign.
