Last week, I wrote about my search for National Organization for Women's stance on women who choose to enter the sex industry. I found many things detailing NOW's opposition to trafficking, which I think we can all agree is bad for women. But I found nothing about women who choose to use their bodies in the sex industry.
So I wrote to NOW.
I sent NOW an email through their online web contact form. This is the email:
Dear NOW,
I recently published a blog regarding NOW's silence on the subject of women who choose to enter the sex industry. Please see the blog here: http://www.dailykos.com/...
I was hoping NOW could point me in the right direction for information on the organization's views of the sex industry (aside from trafficking) and in particular NOW's view on women who choose to enter the sex industry.
Thank you so much for all your hard work and I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
My name
My personal email
I sent them this email on March 23. Since March 20, I've received three action alerts from NOW. Yet, in more than a week, they could not respond to my request for information.
Maybe they need to hear it from more than one person. So here is the link to NOW's web contact form. Last week, 52 people voted in my poll saying that women should choose to use their bodies in whatever way they see fit. Let's ask NOW to take a stance.
Because NOW should be for all women, including women who choose to work in the sex industry.
