Hey guys
Just a rant here. A random list of things that have pissed me off today. Is the list pointless ? Yes.
But please take this thread as a ranting venting thread where you can let off some steam so that you can stay polite and sane on the rest of the threads.
So what is pissing me off lately ?
- Things like this:
There's been a lot of speculation recently that Elizabeth Edwards is a closet Hillary supporter. Some more tea leaves from this article the NYT did on her today:
She said she saw no problem with the fight over the Democratic nomination going to the national convention. And she said she agreed with Mrs. Clinton that superdelegates should weigh in as appropriate and did not necessarily need to vote the way their state or caucus had voted.
Of course, in the same article, she dismissed reports that she'd been "turned off" by discussions she had with Obama about his health-care plan; and she said she has no intention of endorsing anyone anytime soon. But you do get the sense that she favors Hillary.
- Rumors like this:
A smart political operative said within earshot of me yesterday that if Hillary has more metaphorical bombshells to drop on Obama — and this operative has heard secondhand that she does — she'll do so between April 16, the date of her next debate with Obama, and April 22, Pennsylvania's primary day. The timing, of course, is so she doesn't get asked about it by the moderator or confronted by Obama.
- People like this:
Dick Cheney, in an interview today, fiddles with his deck of cards and fingers the one with the big "W" on it:
"I've watched what's going on on the Democratic side with great interest, and sort of blowing hot and cold in terms of who is going to win -- whether it is going to be Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama,’’ Cheney noted in a telephone interview with conservative talk show host, Sean Hannity, today.
"I thought the controversy over Rev. Wright was remarkable," Cheney said. "I thought some of the things he said were absolutely appalling. And, you know, I haven't gotten into the business of trying to judge how Sen. Obama dealt with it, or didn't deal with it, but I really, I think -- like most Americans -- I was stunned at what the Reverend was preaching in his church and then putting up on his website.’"
- The thing jenantheshore reported yesterday and I won't repeat
- People who forget this is not about them like this:
The Obama campaign’s vetoes have caused some real backlash. Marcy Winograd, a California Democratic activist who has campaigned for Obama and picketed Clinton events, pointed out in an article that many of those cut for the list were progressive activists – and called the Obama campaign tactics "anti-democratic and mercenary." A DailyKos diarist from Oakland wrote, "so why did the Obama campaign screw me over?"
- The media not reporting stories like this:
There's a real crowd at Radio City, complete with scalpers, and lines around the block for Elton John and the Clintons.
(...)
Elton John was a bit edgier:
"I never cease to be amazed at the misogynist attitude of some of the people in this country," he said. "I say to hell with them."
Now replace "Clinton" by "Obama" and "misogynist" by "racist" and who do you think would be accused of playing the race/victim card ? Why is there a double standard here and they are allowed to imply not voting for her is misogynistic ? Why is THAT OK ?
- Hypocrisy like this
Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., vented frustration that the Democratic Party has failure to come to a resolution about how to handle the convention delegations in Florida and Michigan.
"I really don’t understand why the Republican Party very clearly decided what they were going to do, and the Democratic Party can’t decide," Clinton said going further than she has in the past in her critique.
- The fact this diary is going to be greeted by dozens of comments telling me it sucks, it is not a diary, I should delete or someone will insult me because I hint I am annoyed at E. Edwards.
- The WORST ONE : the fact I am angry at all of this means I am becoming a concern troll. And I HATE this.
And those are only the few ones that came up in the past 24 hours.
But in the meantime, take the time to vent, rant and be offensive here.
I officially declare this diary a free-for-all of things that make you angry about this primary. And, yes, that's negative, and we should focus on the good news and yada yada.
But you know what ? Sometimes it feels GOOD to get angry.
UPDATE : The idea for this diary came from an incident I had today.
Long story made short. Had a routine blood-draw at a random private lab as prescribed by the free public clinic I attend (coz I don't have health care).
Since then I am having terrible pains in my hand. Free clinic doctor told me she probably damaged a nerve when pricking me. I called the lab and after MUCH wrangling got someone at corporate who told me "There is nothing we can do for you. We don't have a program with doctor or what not for these kinds of cases because it just does not happen".
So I got really really angry and ranted and vented for a few minutes. "It F**in happened to ME" kind of rant. And she relented and said they would call me within two days with options.
So it worked AND I felt so much better than when I was trying to be nice about the whole thing.
Lesson:
Anger is not always my enemy.
So get pissed off, dammit !
