Running for Federal or Statewide office is a consuming experience for the candidate. I have been running full time, full speed and dragging anyone willing to help, for over a year in my quest for North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District seat in Congress. I have learned so much about lots of things, but mostly about people. I could go on and on about the different types of people; caring, concerned, aggressive, timid, politically consumed, apolitical and indifferent. So many backgrounds and life experiences, but all, to some degree, products of our environment.
I have loved meeting all of the people along the campaign trail and I look forward to the many I have yet to meet. I love to hear the life stories of struggle, overcoming, heartbreaks and blessings. Without trying, they have taught me lot. There is something though that I have noted; a sort of string woven into the being, culture and fabric of North Carolinians and all Americans for that matter. People want their leaders to say what they mean and mean what they say.
Most people in America do not accept, or appreciate the nuances in political truth, or the exaggeration of probabilities. Although most will admit the effectiveness of "attack ads" and negative campaigning, they hate the idea that it works at all. They are constantly seeking out someone, anyone who they can trust and believe. Although they do not often express it in these terms, people seek to elect those who are pure of heart and who are without malice, or guile for those with whom they disagree.
Some time ago I wrote an article titled "24 Things I will try to do as a U.S. Congressman". In that article I simply stated what I want to do and why. I was advised that "being that open" could hurt me as a candidate for Congress. Those advisors were wrong. I have sought out politicians and candidates of like mind, or similar to my own ever since. Barack Obama is that sort of person.
I believe that America is searching and rightly so. Over the past seven years, our leaders have misled us, lied to us, misspent our money, misspent and betrayed our trust. Our President was not fully honest with us when he led us into invading, warring with, and ultimately occupying, through military force, a country that represented no physical threat to the United States. Without our knowledge, the Republican led Congress and Senate, with the Presidents assistance were on a spending spree so vast that the next generations of Americans will not be able to pay it off. Consequently we are now the worlds greatest debtor nation. The American people feel used by our politicians. They are right to feel this way. I feel it too.
Senator Obama, to me, represents a kind of renaissance in politics where trust, truth and fidelity to principle will once again grow and bloom in our White House in Washington DC. I believe, like a vine wraps itself around whatever it touches , this new beginning will too weave itself throughout our Capital and our country. To me Barack’s candidacy represents spring after a long, dry and devastating summer of an untrustworthy President in the White House.
My expectations are high and my hope higher still. I expect an end to the War in Iraq and hopefully the warring in Iraq between her own people. I expect the return of our civil rights and liberties and a government’s respect for "Rule of Law" in America. I expect an honest effort to lift our education system off it’s knees and recognize that our youth are our only hope and real chance for our future. Where ever we are going, those now young will be taking us. I expect every American will soon be able to go to a doctor without the fear going bankrupt. I expect fear itself to be less evident, less present in our society. I hope the world will breath a sigh of relief at the changing to our U.S. Leadership. I think they are ready too.
Most of you know me. I am Marshall Adame, a Democratic Candidate for Congress in NC-03, and I will support Barack Obama for President of The United States of America.

Oh Yea: I could use some help. I am the underdog and it's breaking the bank. Please donate 20.08 to the campaign. Thirty of those contributions can bu my campaign one week of radio commercial time. Thanks.
