Dear fellow liberal blogging types,
If you read Matthew Yglesias or John Cole or any of several other respectable bloggers, you've heard about the Malkin-sphere freakout over that Mexican Absolut ad. First of all, I want to encourage all of you to get out tonight, as I will, and make sure you drink Absolut.
Second, if you're staying in for whatever reason and you have a Wikipedia account (lamentably, I tried to jump in, but was stopped by a so-called "semi-protection" measure) and you'd like to contribute to the future health of that noble project, go to the Absolut page and try to provide some fairness and/or balance to the discussion in the talk page and to the article itself.
I happened to come across this whole thing via John Cole and was particularly impressed by how much uproar there was amongst the right wing blogs over the talk page. Classic.
Anyway, it looks like in spite of the efforts of reasonable editors and admins over there, an increasingly Malkin heavy bunch of editors. Apparently, the semi-protect thing only prevents accounts less than four days old from editing, so since Malkin and the crew have been linking to the Wikipedia page for the better part of the week now and the page has been semi-protected nearly as long, they'll have the upper hand real soon now.
So get in there, everybody! Don't let Wikipedia become yet another outlet for right wing bed wetters.
Update: In response to whines below that I'm somehow attempting to garner mojo or something, I assure you, I am just attempting to promote chaos in the right wing blogosphere by attracting reinforcements to a beleaguered editing force in an epic Wikipedia edit war the right threatens to sew up shortly.
I know better ways to get mojo than posting diaries, as I'm sure you can believe.
Yours,
Vince.
