I, along with many others, watched and blogged along with the CNN forum tonight. As usual Obama was well prepared and masterfully answered the questions posed to him (which were clearly more difficult and politically dangerous than those given to his opponent) with intelligence, grace, and candor.
Yet, immediately following this forum the pundits seemlessly returned to discussing the "elitist" issue as if the forum never took place.
Folks, we have either veered off into la-la land, or these "journalists" are following a script given to them from above. Nothing else makes sense any longer.
This diary is not meant to be informative, but to get your feelings about what happened tonight, and to discuss ways we can be more proactive in forcing the media to end its "Alice in Wonderland" coverage of Obama--coverage that is seemingly trying to convince all of us his campaign is coming apart in the face of all evidence to the contrary.
Remember, we are his best weapon.
Update: Many of you seem to think that the media is just "being lazy."
I found this comment by lisastar very illustrative:
Lazy? You'd have to be really trying not to commend Obama's performance tonight. It was so much better than Hillary's, anyone could effortlessly see it.
So, lazy they are not. They worked hard to pretend that Hillary did a great job and that Obama was so-so. Oh and don't forget they had to resurrect the Bittergate crap when it was clear the audience, with their continued applause, was over it.
Quit giving them a pass. They are not lazy or misguided or even stupid. They work for the right. They are intentionally playing down anything Obama does well and overeacting to anything he slips up on.
If we cannot elect this man, we don't deserve him.
Indeed, these are some of the highest paid journalists in America. It would probably be safe to say that all of them are "Type A" personalities who have climbed the ladder of success with daggers in the backs of their colleagues and superiors. They are anything but, "lazy."
The only other explanation for their non-sensical narrative is that they are being told to keep on assaulting Obama even to the point of lunacy by their superiors.
Update 2: CNN replaying forum right now 23:00 EST, for anyone who missed it.
Please Rec' this to keep it alive for comments from those on the West Coast.
