I'm quite surprised at the Kossacks, for missing what may be the single most compelling, Occam's Razor-friendly rationale for Bush picking his most devoted worshipper for the Supreme Court.
The theory - Bush expects to be seing SCOTUS, sooner or later, or at the very least that friends of his will, and that perhaps, just perhaps, it would be nice to have some unprincipled, unmitigated yes-votes safely-ensconced on the bench when the time comes.
Or, Miss Miers is the most overlooked jurisprudential genius this country has ever seen.
Which way does Occam's Razor slice? :)
