A large portion of the Lou Dobbs Program today was spent bashing Obama for his "bitter" remark. His panel was composed of three talk show hosts, Lars Larson of Radio KXL in Portland, Joe Madison of Radio WOL in Washington, D.C. and Laura Flanders of Air America. In referring to Obama's comments about "bitter" Pennsylvanians, Lou Dobbs said. "Senator Obama's comments, let me start with you Laura, how dumb can comments get?"Laura answered, "I mean I don't get it Lou. It's OK for you to talk about the bitterness and frustration of Amertican workers but not Barak Obama?"
Soon after Lou said, "We want to get to the poll question quickly: Which of these best describes your attitude as an American citizen, partisan and pitiful, bitter and angry, or independent and proud?" We'll have the results for you later in the broadcast." It was quite evident by his inflection that he wanted the answer, proud and independent.Later Joe Madison said,"Guess what? People are angry, bitter about it, have been, I don't know where they stopped being bitter and angry about it."Lou responded. "I'll let you know when we get the poll results here."After the panel had left and near the end of the program Lou announced the poll results with absolutely no comment except for thanking the listeners for responding to the poll.
The results:
3% Partisan and Pitiful
45% Independent and proud
52% Bitter and Angry
The latest Quinnipiac poll has Clinton leading Obama in Pennsylvania by only 6 percent. A national poll has Obama leading Clinton among Democrats by 11 percent. It appears the fallout from the "bitter" remark has been minimal and may actually be having a reverse effect in having reminded voters that there actually is a lot of anger and bitterness among the electorate directed at a government which is controlled by corporations at the expense of the middle class.
